"Take off your bedroom slippers. Put on your marching shoes," he said, his voice rising as applause and cheers mounted. "Shake it off. Stop complainin’. Stop grumblin’. Stop cryin’. We are going to press on. We have work to do."
Obama’s speech to the annual awards dinner of the Congressional Black Caucus was his answer to increasingly vocal griping from black leaders that he’s been giving away too much in talks with Republicans — and not doing enough to fight black unemployment, which is nearly double the national average at 16.7 percent.
Way to go, Obama! Your “people” are suffering: Black unemployment is almost twice the average, and black teenage unemployment is over four times the average rate, and yet you demand more suffering and personal sacrifice in order to get yourself re-elected? The ugly truth is that higher numbers of black voters than ever before are dissatisfied with a Democrat president, and even a cardboard cutout Republican could beat you, and yet your idea of a pep talk is to “quit whinin’ and fall in line”? Almost like a bad reprise of Animal House – do you you expect them to say “Thankyou, sir, may I have another”?
Hey, man, keep it up, keep right on inhaling the good stuff, and at least you’ll feel less pain when “your people” vote for a republican next time!
