“So this is your 30 pieces of silver?”

by Skip

Yeah, so the Establishment is trying to get the upper hand:  shhh…we’ll keep this quiet…..and then someone released what they wanted to the Union Leader.  I was waiting for this to happen: Folks are asking Jack Kimball to step down from being Chair of the NH GOP. And since this story went live, I have gotten all kinds of calls and emails. My sources said that the following back story was supposed to be kept quiet, as a bunch of folks (maybe 20?) were involved in the following offer process – and now getting outed to me as they are getting second thoughts about this offer.   And then the Establishment (and one Opportunist) turned around and let the story go to the UL.

Here is more of the story that you didn’t read in the UL.  It seems that Speaker Bill O’Brien and Jennifer Horn visited Jack at his office in Portsmouth on Friday.  Their purpose?  Verbiage from Bill: "Peter Bragdon, the NH National delegation, and the Republican Governors Association have asked me to ask you to step down".  But that was not all.  Like all things political, influence plays a role.  And so does money.  In this case, lots of promised money.  However, like money from the Federal Government to the States, this would come with big strings attached….think large ship hawser type chains.

We all know about losing the special elections.  We all know about the troubles raising money for the State Party.  We also know that Jack has made errors since assuming the Chairmanship. And the rumor is that he signed a petition to allow the Libertarian Party on the ballot. But those do not sum up to this; the demand was made on Friday. And there are those that would say more.

Those chains?  A Hundred Thousand Dollars from the RGA.  And more from our Republican members of the State Delegation: Kelly Ayotte, Charlie Bass, and Frank Guinta.  To the NH GOP.  To be used to help fund State level races in the House and Senate, according to my sources.

So here is the perfect example of complaining that Jack can’t raise money even as they propose to to withhold the money.

But only if Jack resigns.  He resigns, a 6 figure deal.  He fights it – zippo.  So, the Establishment GOP is willing to lose seats by denying grassroots money to succesfully run?  That is a declaration of all out war on the TEA Party, 912ers, and Liberty and Freedom legislators in the NH State House that helped to give the GOP a super majority this term.  Which, in turn, helped to give Bill O’Brien the Speakership.

You know, there’s a legal term for that – and all the lawyers know what that term is.  So do a lot of other folks on the other side of the law (it is rather illegal).  A big quid pro quo.

Am I shocked?  In some ways, no.  In others, yes.  Time and time again, I have heard Jerry Delemus, Chair of the Granite State Patriot Liberty PAC say over and over that we have to get integrity back into politics.  Speaker O’Brien has also said the same.  Sorry, but this is not a great example for "integrity".  It’s a great anti-definition.

Extortion – no money for supporting our legislators’ races. Sold out by their leadership. Thirty pieces of silver.

You know, I don’t do politics just to be chummy / chummy with people in high places.  Rather, the ‘Grok tries to support, as much as we can, people who espouse Conservative Principles, uphold the Constitution (both of them), and are of high integrity.  If this severs those relationships, so be it.  After all, our unofficial motto is "Thank’em when they’re right and spank’em when they’re not."

I got lots of paddles….

Email sent to RGA, pointing out that the pieces of silver are being offered in the name of a TEA party governor (McDonnell) to wipe out a TEA party state chair. Oh, the hypocrisy!!

This is absolutely disappointing…I knew the Judas’ were well-entrenched within the NHGOP but would have never thought it to be this systemic…

Integrity? How about the integrity NOT to have our disagreements fought publically. Just keep the Democrats smiling smugly, your choice.

Your post admits that Kimball has lost special elections, has made errors (many verbal ones) has failed to raise money and is actively promoting another party. Yet you’re surprised the money men won’t give this man more money to squander on over-paid young staffers and poorly thought-out campaigns? Why?

“Your post admits that Kimball has lost special elections”. Was it “Kimball” that lost those elections? Did the candidates have the support needed to win, despite the appeals made? Finally, does there exist anymore any truly limited government fiscally conservative “Republicans” left within the ranks of New Hampshire Republicans who care first about principles and not some party one can tell hardly from the Democrats? We seemed to get rid of a lot of RINOs in the last election…but we sure managed to keep some as well.

Money is a problem for the NHGOP, as everyone knew it would be when they elected a chairman who couldn’t raise money for his own campaign much less the party, but money (or the lack of) is not losing elections. IMHO, this story goes off the rails with the allegation that the “…Establishment GOP is willing to lose seats by denying grassroots money to succesfully (sic) run.” Honey had plenty of dough, but got thumped.
I believe the problem is we’re losing the message. I agree with Tea Party policies and priorities, but the collective lack of experience managing a message and shaping public perception is killing the party and distracting from the actual work going on — which has been generally quite good.
    To wit:
Why did we pick a fight we could never win with a Catholic Bishop? Whatever his merits or faults, it overshadowed a legislative success.
Why do we violate a clear agreement with hospitals and then cling to a hollow argument we didn’t raise taxes? You can argue the tax wasn’t new, but the financial impact on hospitals clearly was.
Why was guns in the statehouse our introduction to NH voters?
This wasn’t “extreme” as some have made it out to be, but it also was not smart to make that the first piece of business from the new legislature. The excuse that it was just setting the rules ignores the realities of public relations.
I support the party (including the chairman) to the extent it helps conservative causes. When there is a better avenue to advance conservative causes, I think it is time to look elsewhere.
BTW — the article seems to imply that a quid pro quo is “rather illegal.” Not only is it not illegal, it is a requirement of any contract.

Honey absolutely had plenty of campaign money and plenty of help in the end too…and we are absolutely losing the message war and that is absolutely the NH GOP’s fault…both Speaker O’Brien and the House Majority leader are doing a very good job fighting that battle, the the NH GOP has been largely unseen and unheard from…look, the idea that the RGA is holding back money in the name of establishment is interesting, but you don’t think it’s because Jack hasn’t accomplished one thing?…continuing to blame Sununu sounds and awful lot like Obama still blaming Bush…the notion that the Sununu “establishment” crowd were not on board with Jack came long before the election for chairman…I thought the tea party/912 followers were going to stick a thumb in the eye of the established ones?…this boils down to a guy who can’t run a political party who surrounded himself that can’t run on either…so now the Kimball crowd is going to engage in a scorched earth policy too?…I wonder if they will take keys of the keyboards on their way out in a couple of weeks?
