Jay Severin Returns to Boston Radio

WXKS Logo - Jay Severin Press releaseWXKS TALK1200 Boston has announced that beginning this Thrusday August 18th, Jay Severin will return to the Boston market daily from 3-6pm after Rush Limbaugh.

Severin was released from WTKK several months ago after making some offhand remarks about women who have worked for him and the likelihood that they would at some point have some kind of sexual relationship with him.  Since his departure a number of lousy replacements cycled through the seat until WXKS settled on Doug Meehan who has probably failed to gather up even a fraction of the audience they shed after Severin’s departure.  I’m not sure what Meehan is, but he fails to attract my interest every time I tune in.  (If Sports Hub has had a late day ratings rise, Severin’s departure from WTKK could be a factor.)

People familiar with Severin will know he sells himself as a libertarian leaning right winger, which is in itself suspect if you spend any time listening, but his style and manner have a history of building a broad range of listeners.  To suggest that Sevrin could slaughter Meehan in the same time slot is an understatement and following Limbaugh can’t hurt.

Severin, who has a great face for radio, also presents a much needed local voice that can give the Boston market audience a political-talker during the commute who will spend time on local issues every day of the week.

Hannity, which was on WXKS from 3-6 will be broadcast from 6-9.

Severin starts his new job this Thursday.
