I have cancelled my Facebook account. Here’s why…

Former GraniteGrok writer Tom Flaherty wrote and distributed the email below. I find that I agree with him. So as of today I have "deactivated" (you can’t erase it) my Facebook account. When the Facebook Fascists asked why I was leaving, I said "I don’t like your selective political favoritism." In fact, I don’t like their left-wing statism. So screw Facebook. (For an upcoming alternative that will respect privacy and hopefully not use itself as a left-wing political weapon, check out Altly.com.)

FACEBOOK: Last month, we learned that Facebook would be archiving all exisitng groups, who may then reclaim access to their members upon receiving a special "key". A controversy arose when the owner of the group "Stop Islamization of America" (SIOA; over 15,000 members, run by Pamela Gellar) has been refused one of these keys. Without the key, group owners are free to recreate their group, from scratch. At this point, it is unclear whether certain groups will be given a key to reclaim their members and history….

Pamela Geller writes, "So who gets the upgrade option and why? Who decides? Here is a short list of some of the groups not given the option; therefore, they will lose all their members: Americans Calling for Impeachment of Obama; International Burn a Quran Day; Rally Point For Victims of FB-Jihad; Anti-CAIR; CAIR Observatory; World Wide Elimination Of Sharia Law; and The Order of The Burning Quran."

Meanwhile, groups that are not to be archived and will keep their membership include Americans Against Islamophobia; Islam…religion of peace; the Cordoba Initiative (that is, the group planning to build an Islamic supremacist mega-mosque at Ground Zero); and LoonWatch. There’s also the issue of Facebook giving Obama access to 500,000 members a couple of months ago, so he could "banter" with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and conduct a "town hall" where he got to roll up his sleeves and call Paul Ryan’s budget "short sighted."
