NH Executive Council Votes to Take Obamacare Money

In response to the article at:  http://www.concordmonitor.com/article/249755/councilors-take-federal-health-funds  I sent the following letter:

Dear Sirs:

Obamacare was passed against the wishes of the majority of the American people who still want it repealed this includes majorities of Republicans and  Independents, and a plurality of Democrats.  Obamacare has been ruled unconstitutional.

Every Republican that I am aware of that ran for any national office promised to get rid of Obamacare, repeal or remove funding, and most  would NOT have been elected without such a pledge.  The US House of Representatives has already passed a repeal bill.

Thus, one wonders why New Hampshire would spend money, even “free”  money, to help implement Obamacare.

The consequences of not planning a health insurance exchange, as I understand it, is that the Obama administration will impose one that may be worse than one NH might create.  However, there is no assurance that a plan acceptable to NH would be accepted by the Obama administration, and yield the same result.

One concern with going forward is that the momentum of the effort leads to creating jobs, putting organizations and practices in place, making people feel this idea is OK, and setting public expectations that make it harder to repeal Obamacare.  That would be tragic because Obamacare will bankrupt America and let its citizens suffer and die prematurely.

Some states are rejecting this money and not planning for exchange.  Governors Scott and Jindal have experience in health care, I suggest you read the article at:  http://washingtonexaminer.com/blogs/opinion-zone/2011/04/governors-should-follow-jindal-s-lead-exchanges

I believe that every available erg of Republican energy should be spent on replacing President Obama with a conservative Republican in the next election, not squandered on a Health Care Exchange that should never be implemented.  .

Sincerely,

Donald J. Ewing
