Heritage gives us the low down on Government Union Worker funding and voting for those that would set their contracts

Corrupt practice?  George Meany and FDR thought to – its one thing for private unions to fight their employers for a bigger slice of the profits. After all, if those compensation demands go too high, and management is unwilling to standfast for the live of their company, you end up with this:

(H/T: Tom)

A positive feedback cycle – downward.  Price goes to high, demand goes down.  Auto unions ate the Golden Goose: no more Golden Egg.

Not so with Government Union Workers – and the unions have been working hard to, as Liberals / Progressives are wont to do, redefine the language. Have you noticed?  The Government Unions (and their mouthpieces in the MSM) talk about unions fighting against "employers" – those dirty Govs. Scott Walker and Chris Christie! The unions call them cold hearted, Nazis, anti-democratic and get this: unAmerican and hate the Middle Class. Problem is, they are leaving out something:

  • The real middle class is 93% union free – only 7% of private workers are union.  But they won’t mention that.
  • The Governors (and related legislators) were often elected running on platforms to reduce spending, so that is "anti-Democratic" by doing what the voters elected them to do?
  • And the big rub – the "employers" are really the taxpayers – the Govs, the legislators, and even the public workers work for -> the taxpayers.  Us.  So the unions’ vitriol is really directed at us, their employers.

(and, yes, I’m so tired of govt workers who say "well, we pay taxes too!" in trying to claim legitimacy for their whining – no, you don’t – effectively, in your case, it’s a rebate back to the taxpayers; think it through).

Anyways, I digress and divert from the original purpose of the post; Heritage has a really good and informative video on the subject:
