South Park Meets the Creature from Jekyll Island - Granite Grok

South Park Meets the Creature from Jekyll Island

A few years ago, our great local writer, PJ O’Rourke did all of us free market types a big favor by "reading Adam Smith’s ‘The Wealth of Nations’, so you don’t have to". (‘On the Wealth of Nations’, 2006)

In a similar vein, Tad Lumpkin, Harold Uhl, the producers of the cartoon "The American Dream" have done us huge favor by distilling the history and arguments for ending, or severely restraining the Federal Reserve into a 30 minute short, which played to a packed hall of mostly Campaign for Liberty members at CPAC last week…

If you’ve browsed Ron Paul’s "End the Fed", you know the basics, but did anyone recommend a copy of "The Creature from Jekyll Island"? Even though it’s very well written, it’s a thick book, and there’s a lot to absorb. Well, Lumpkin and Uhl have "read the book, so you don’t have to", so buckle yourself into Hardman’s DeLorean for a ride through time, space, money, and trickery that will educate, entertain, and leave you more sympathetic to Ron Paul’s position.

I have read "The Creature from Jekyll Island", and related history, and I have to say, that it is far more accurate than it is conspiratorial, and the cartoon is likewise hyperbolic, not innaccurate.

The cartoon is big on Jefferson, including quotes such as: "If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

But don’t take my word for it, check out the website: www.TheAmericanDreamFilm.com

Here’s the trailer, and you can watch the whole thing on line, but don’t forget the starving artists – buy a copy to educate your kids and friends. Better yet, buy a few copies to hand out – the future you save may be your own!

Enjoy!
