Mike Earmark Brunelle To Be Investigated

Earmark Mike Brunelle is going to be investigated by the New Hampshire House for a potential violation of the state Constitution.  Matt over at RH posted it yesterday.

In making the motion on the House floor, fellow Manchester lawmaker Phil Greazzo (R-Hillsborough Dist. 17) cited Part II, Article 7 which stipulates that “no member of the General Court shall take fees, be of counsel, or act as an advocate in any cause before any branch of the legislature.” According to the Constitution, upon proof of such a violation, the member shall forfeit his seat in the House.

The democrats are probably already crying like a toddler who just lost their balloon. (Ironic that they wont have to pay a fine.)  But we should look at this seriously and in a context that the progressives understand.

Money as a form of political influence has been the vintage of preference from the Left Wing Whinery, echoing incessantly across the political landscape.  Conflicts of interest over out of state money and even cash from points more foreign than domestic, have been concocted, imagined, regurgitated, and rampant on the left to no avail. And no less so than in the past few months as their imminent political demise loomed large upon the horizon, they helpless and hapless to prevent it–and in some cases both in denial and clueless as well.  Still, they insist they are there. So what are we to do?

Earmark Mike is a paid operative of the democrat party apparatus.  The party is or has been funded by millions in out of state money, and by groups with international organizations as well as deep pocketed globalists. How are we to know exactly who or what has Earmark Mike Brunelle’s Ear?  The kind of people who want him to encourage federal legislators to accept earmarks comes immediately to mind.  So maybe this is suddenly not such a big problem?

If the State constitution bans his participation in the General Court on the grounds that he is taking fees in violation of it, and that’s not a big deal, the democrats need to explain why and then put their mystery money where their mouth is and move to clarify the State constitution on those grounds if they can.

That’s how the process works.  Or are they hoping to find a judge to fix this for them?

What that might do to all their other arguments about money influencing elections and legislators is  of interest to us, but that should not concern them.  When have they ever bothered to hold themselves to the same standards as anyone else?

I think the answer to that is never.

As for Earmark Mike, he may have to choose between his Party paycheck and his role as the legislative equivalent of the panty-bomber in the NH house; filing bills he knows Republicans will vote against so the democrats can manufacture sound bites for the next election.  Or he could work the hypocrisy angle and try to explain the influence peddling contradiction.  Or even answer a David Axelrod style question–where’s the proof Brunelle is not in violation of Part II article 7?

My prediction?  They will just yell and scream like babies because they just painted themselves into a corner.
