From The Harvard School Of Bud Light (Weare Campus)

The ongoing saga of Jon and Theonia Boyd seems to be coming to an end.  The Boyd’s, both professors at Harvard and residents of Massachusetts, were charged with facilitating an underage drinking party at a friend’s house in Weare, NH, when police arrived to discover the smartest people in the room had no idea there were 70 drunk minors celebrating the Bacchanalia under their slightly upturned noses.

The end result of this sad bit of theater? The Boyd’s got the charges reduced to a no contest, plea-which is not an admission of guilt, according to their attorney.  They are now in the process of refusing to pay $1500.00 to the town of Weare to offset costs incurred by local police called in to process partygoers and will probably walk away with nothing but their fines of $558.00 each, as reported by Greg Kwasnik in this morning’s Union Leader.

So is there a lesson in all of this?  Yes.  Harvard isn’t planning any action against them.  The Boyd’s will escape without a police record.  And the fines are meaningless to a pair of Harvard Professors.

But the internet is forever, and minors who want to drink and not be bothered (until the police show up) know what kind of House parties to attend.
