VoteCrier.com

VoteCrier.comSomeone has just performed what appears to be a great service to the People of New Hampshire.  (I just have not figured out who they are yet.)  It’s called VoteCrier.com.  It’s premise is to provide a database where New Hampshire legislators can explain how and why they voted for particular bills, and a method by which voters can sort and read these responses.

In the words of the Guinness guys.  "It’s Brilliant!"

And it is brilliant, not just because we can see a voluntary explanation of what the thought process was for a legislator on any given vote, we can see if there was any thought process at all.  The absence of any comment on important bills–particularly when the vote was unpopular–could be construed as equally meaningful.

Keep in mind that this is entirely voluntary, and there is no accounting for the time necessary to comment on a vote.  But it is there.  So it is possible to explain votes to anyone with access to the database.

Legislators have to register to post. (No charge).  Anyone else can access the content for free. The front page also serves as a news aggregator for stories of local interest–also very useful

They have a facebook page as well.
