September 15th. - Granite Grok

September 15th.

We have a truckload of candidates running, and with but a few exceptions, they are all a huge improvement over what we have now.  And every one of them has insisted repeatedly and in near unison, that we need a change in direction and echoed each others thoughts on their desire to connect with voters and take back Washington from the reckless spenders. But just how serious about this are they?

I contend that the real commitment comes on September 15th, when the GOP field for federal offices is whittled down to three, (and for Governor down to one).   Will these former candidates prove that they are more than empty suits on the promise of doing whatever it takes to change Concord and Washington?  Will they not just endorse the primary winner, but pledge their staffs, supporters, and fiscal resources to help that person beat their democrat opponent in every race this November, and help us take back the corner office in the state Capitol?

I’d like to hear from each and every one of them becasue I have made it clear that while like most of you, I have a preference, and while I have taken my shots at plenty of Republicans, I will back whomever wins their respective primaries and do everything I can to make sure we turn the State Red–even if it is not the exact shade of red I would have preferred.

Can they say the same thing?

This year, in particular, we have a crop of very successful businessman, with a few people of significant wealth by average standards, who will have fully fledged organizations staffed and geared up throughout the state to help the winners while the democrats will only have one in each race with the possible exception of CD-2.

Do we have the sense to realize that with at least three to five well organized groups already keyed in to the base and in contact with the independent voters for every race, that by shifting these supporters into a massive push on September 15th to back each of the primary winners (along with a focused and parallel GOP effort in every local race), all the way to November, that we will not only take back the state, but take it back with huge margins?

I guess we’ll have to wait and see if the hundreds of speeches and the noise from the respective camps were selfish rhetoric for the cause of one candidate or a genuine commitment to the principles of limited government and personal responsibility.

I’ll be watching.  New Hampshire will be watching.  And we will not forget what happens on September 15th and all the days leading up to November.
