Let’s play catch up, Part 1 – Alton Old Home Day Parade

I’ve a bit to catching up to do on posting up videos here on the ‘Grok.  A lot of it is that unlike most bloggers, the ‘Grok gets out to a lot of events to either cover them or to support good candidates, or both!  We just don’t blog – we activate!

"Old Home Day" is a tradition here in NH where the idea behind it is to return to one’s old stomping grounds and reconnect with family and friends.  A staple of OHD’s is the parade – civic groups, bands, and of course this time in the cycle, politicians.

Alton’s Old Home day was no different. Held last Saturday, TMEW and I walked in the parade to show our support for Jack Kimball (running for NH Governor) and for Jim Forsythe (NH Senate in District 4). Of course, given the opportunity and the inclination, I couldn’t help get a bit of video for the ‘Gok!

Sidebar: I immediately got a quick appreciation of the unexpected difficulty of walking, shooting video, and holding an 8 foot wooden with campaign signs for Jack and Jim on it.  Note to self – practice, practice, practice…..

One thing I can say – Jim is doing everything to EARN your vote!   As you can see by this quick clip, Jim was really quick as well – the running you see him doing now to shake as many hands as possible was indicative of the energy he displayed during the entire 2 mile (est.) parade route – talk about being an Energizer Bunny!

Two things I learned – he’s in really good shape and really is motivated to meet his constituency-to-be (his primary opponent was nowhere to be found), that I’m not in good shap eand have to practice walking and shooting video a whole lot more often.

You go, guy!
