As I stated below (and almost every month), I live vlogged the Belknap County Republicans. Since I only use an inexpensive Orb for a webcam, the video is not the best so I generally "Flipcam" it as well – a step up in quality, anyways.
Anywho, here the Q&A session where the attendees get to question the speaker(s). In this case, they were (in order of their speaking [which will be posted up later]):
Rich Ashooh, vying for the Republican nomination for NH’s First Congressional District (and send Carol Shea-Porter home)
George Hurt, vying for the Republican nomination for NH Senate District 4 (and let Kathy Sgambati take a nap)
Jim Forsythe (yes, George’s rival), vying for the Republican nomination for NH Senate District 4 (and again, really wanting to let Kathy Sgambati go quietly into that long political night)
My questions to each were on the theme of the "Proper Role of Government":
- To Rich – should charitable organizations (in this case, the ONE campaign in its support of the UN Millenial Development Tax of 2.5% of national GDP) be soliciting tax monies for their particular charity?
- To George and Jim – is the growth of the State under Gov. "Do Nuttin’" Lynch, aided by Senator Kathy Sgambati, crowding out traditional charitable functions and organizations?
Not easy questions for candidates to take on….and that was the intent. I will admit, the references by Jim of Hayek and Tocqueville were nice touches.
