NH House School Musical

NH House School Musical

Last year, at budget time, liberals, democrats, a few RINO’s, and even some chickens were asking where the cuts were.  No not cold cuts but budget cuts.  The libs had just added another 10% to the state budget and they wanted to know where, how and what part of that could we possibly cut.

Let’s reminisce on the stupidity of that for a moment.  They took the budget they had ballooned by 12%-13%, added another 10% to it, but had no idea where they could cut it under the growing umbrella of job losses in an economic downturn?

"Show us the cuts!"  So we did.  They ignored them.

Buckley, Sullivan, Larsen, Norelli, Eaton, Smith and all the rest of our left wing fiscal castaways who promoted or legislated more spending were still stranded on a Desert Island of their own making from who’s only possible escape was a broad based tax.  And to prove it they lined up another few dozen smaller fees and taxes on the beach like coconuts to spell out the words "Show us the cuts.”  Then they then ignored the cuts we showed them, acted like they didn’t exist, and instead added an exclamation point called the JUA money grab and the tent tax, then lit it all on fire with a small business tax.

They were very briefly, quite happy with themselves.  But as it turns out, while people can be convinced to vote for democrats when they are mad at republicans, they still don’t like taxes and irresponsible spending, and had forgotten that you can’t have one without the other.  (See hypnotic gas spewed by Obamunism for some idea of how that happened)  They also forgot that liberals have a hearing defect known as left wing pattern deafness that not only prevents them from listening to constituent objections it worsens as their majority grows.  But midnight robberies and an LLC tax in a state where some 95% of business is small business is just  like passing a broad based tax and killing job growth all at the same time and none of the usual democrat meme’s could be made to fit into their growing budget hole.

Jump in your time machine to early 2010 in which Obama and the democrat party’s coat tails are shorter than Sinead O’Conner’s hair because the mythical hypnotic gas has dissipated.  And after the cold dark days and wintry nights in which the equally over inflated Obama change-balloon had shrunk, a tiny Horton’s Who like voice finally crept into the hibernating brains of liberal politicians–those with a growing hunger to stay in office in the gaping void of an unreliable top down ticket come November…“You have to stand on your own.” Bam!

Somewhere under one of the chairs in the NH House someone found 47 million in cuts.  The governor now thinks he can find 90 million in cuts.  And liberals claim to be compassionate?   They bloated the budget when there was not only no money but declining revenue which they ignored to justify spending they just had to have to match the shiny new taxes they wanted.  So they promised government jobs and raises and programs, and argued that we had to have them out of some compassion for “insert name here,”  and only after the taxpayers refused to be squeezed any further to fund “insert name here” before they were allowed to fund their own lives did the tax and spenders try to find the cuts.

No one should be surprised by this.

There are no cuts until there are.  Liberals are like pubescent school girls, teenagers cut loose at the mall with your credit card and no specific instruction on fiscal prudence.  They will spend until you physically stop them. It is the foundation of the left wing’s conception of good stewardship, something the voters should have the sense to abort come November.

Show us the cuts?  Well, we did but you were too busy playing politics with the people and their money.

We never had to put ourselves in a situation where politicians are now bemoaning tough choices about spending we told them to avoid.  We would not be in this position if our Chief Executive, governor Lynch, was capable of saying no to his own party’s senseless spending; if he’d had the sense to look at the revenue projections they gave him and tell them the truth—that they were a fantasy that would wreck the state budget and the state he had been elected to protect from them.  Turns out he’s the chicken.

So now we’re forced to observe spring/summer theatre by a list of bad actors as the fiscal tweener castaways on the left perform NH House School Musical 2010.  They must play act at walking back another year of their irresponsible governance, complete with all the drama; drama we could have avoided if we’d just kept the liberals from growing the government during a recession in the first place.

But that’s what you get when you let spenders run the show, and elect an invertebrate governor to direct the production.
