It seems that our esteemed Governor, Democrat John Lynch, is once again trying to avoid taking the tough stands that most Governors would handle as a matter of course.
Of course, by using the slithery steps, he avoids the controversy that arose when he actually did make a decision – that of reneging on his promise to never vote for gay marriage. Grant relays the story:
The Union Leader tries to determine if New Hampshire Governor John Lynch is upset at Nebraska getting a Medicare payoff to induce one of its Senators to support the ObamaCare bill.
Gov. John Lynch has told the White House and the state’s congressional delegation he’s unhappy with a key component of the Democratic health-care reform bill that provides special treatment for Nebraska’s Medicaid costs, his spokesman says.
But the governor has not directly asked the congressional delegation to oppose the bill if it contains the $100 million so-called “Cornhusker Kickback,” which was inserted into the bill more than two weeks ago to win Nebraska Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson’s vote.
Nor has the governor asked the state’s attorney general to join with 13 other attorneys general who have threatened legal action to stop the provision. Lynch hasn’t joined with Democratic colleagues in urging congressional Democrats to pass the bill, either.
Obamacare is going to have a VERY deleterious financial effect on New Hampshire with the unfunded Federal mandate that will raise the bar under which people will receive assistence – up to $1.2 Billion / year. That is a HUGE chunk of change for a State this small – and he does nothing.
Sure, he can be upset with the "Cornhusker Kicker" by which WE NH citizens get to pay the additional Medicaid costs via higher taxes (since the Feds have said that they will pick up that cost – forever!).
Yet, not telling Gregg, Shaheen, Shea-Porter, and Hodes not to fight for NH Citizens? Not telling his brand new Attorney General to fight raising his citizens’ taxes that way?
True to form, he’s doing nothing and deciding nothing. After all, that uniform has to stay clean, eh?
