Looks like Fergus is at "the Fringe" - at least on this poll
Looks like this Cross Target poll on Republicans that are vying in NH's First Congression District has Fergus Cullen at the fringe of electorates' wish list:
- Undecided: 48.3%
- Guinta: 24.5%
- Mahoney: 15.3%
- Ashooh: 6.4
- Cullen: 5.5%
Now, it's very early in the race for non-political, non-news junkies here in NH, so having almost half of the electorate not knowing who they would vote does not surprise me in the least. Seeing that former Manchester Mayor Frank at the top of the list; good name recognition, a Republican who has won in a fairly Democrat city, and did what he said he was going to do. Sean, in second place, also does not surprise me as he is a prominent businessman well known in the state and has been active in GOP matters for years. Rich Ashooh (who I met this past Friday at the NHYR Christmas Party and with whom I had a long conversation) is also in that same category. Thus, I find it not unsurprising that Rich is in third place, having just announced his exploratory "time" when compared to the first two.
The surprise? That such a well known "personality" as Fergus Cullen, even as he starts to put out the feelers that he may well enter the race? That, seeing having been the NH Republican Chair, a long term Union Leader columnist, that he's in fourth place?
(slyly said): In "almost doesn't matter range" (aka, "the Fringe")? Nope.
By the way, I do believe that leaving Bob Bestani, Peter Bearse, and Mike Castaldo off the poll was a mistake (but then again, I wasn't paying for the poll). Yes, I'm a bit prejudiced, as Bob is a frequent poster here at GraniteGrok (and is a smart guy to boot) and Peter and Mike are certainly in the race, too, here in CD-1.
