Empty Holster protest, courtesy of Democrat FAIL

Empty Holster

Location:  State House (107 N Main Street, Concord, NH)

Date:        January 6

Time:       9:00 - 11:00 am

What:       Empty Holster Protest - NO firearms

By:           The Honorable Dan Itse (R-Fremont)

Background:

US Consitutional 2nd Amendment:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed

or NH Constitution 2-A rights:

The Bearing of Arms.] All persons have the right to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves, their families, their property and the state.

FBI statistics show that gun crimes continued to head downward (e.g., murder rates are down 10%), this past year even gun sales have surged 12% nationally (approximately 9 million firearms sold).

So, this past Monday (Dec. 21), what did the Democrats that make up the majority of the Legislative Facilities Subcommittee decide to do?

Yeah, the logical thing for them - they reinstated a ban (along Party lines) that had been in place from 1996 to 2006 (which meant that firearms had been allowed before that) that NH Citizens can no longer be able to exercise their Constitutional Rights in the Legislative Office Building and the Upham Walker House.  Once again, the "Open and Transparency" Party failed to have it on the Agenda, no public input, and didn't warn their Republican committee members that it was coming up.

Why did they do this (the wusses)?

The ban was reinstituted now after several lawmakers said they felt threatened during a vote last March relating to states’ rights, when about 15 armed individuals “shouted threats at members of the House from the gallery,” Hassan said. There were schoolchildren in the gallery at the time.

Right - and many Democrats felt "threatened" at town halls and TEA Party events as well.  God forbid that people get as vocal, as passionate, and "in your face" in their arguments against the Democrats as those against the Republicans showed their no-holds-barred reactions.

Senator Maggie Hassan (D-Exeter) even used the universal "It's for the children" excuse:

The ban was reinstituted now after several lawmakers said they felt threatened during a vote last March relating to states’ rights, when about 15 armed individuals “shouted threats at members of the House from the gallery,” Hassan said. There were schoolchildren in the gallery at the time.

So, because of people were exercising their Rights during a discussion about supporting the 10th Amendment Right of States and Enumerated Powers, the Dems decided to take away yet another choice of law abiding citizens. Heck, people merely shouting at these liver-livied politicians is perceived as a threat!

Thus, Dan Itse (R-Fremont, who also sponsored that same States Right pushback that was under discussion at the time that the Democrats failed to pass and protect NH from the ever encroaching Federal Government claws) is calling for this protest against the NH Government limiting a choice by lawful citizens (e.g., the Democrat Leadership is automatically assuming the worst from the citizenry).

Penny Dean, general counsel for Gun Owners of New Hampshire, said the ban reflects the relationship between lawmakers and constituents.

The really sad thing is what those anti-freedom individuals are saying is they don’t trust and they fear their own constituents,

Truly said....they fear their constituents.  After what they have done the last two sessions, they ought to.  Not only do firearm owners exercise their 2nd Amendment Rights, they vote - all the time.

How many more things will the Democrats do this session to tick people off?

So, in the same spirit that the Dems have shown toward us, I ask this "how'd those gun bans work for Columbine, Virginia Tech, and Ft. Hood"?

They never learn that guns don't kill people - people do.  Just ask Britain what their murder rate is with their gun ban (and now looking to ban steak knives?).

Chuckleheads all....

Don't like this by the Democrats?  Go sign the petition!

"guns don't kill people - people do" Anyone who uses this phrase with any hint of sincerity discloses the fact that he is an utter moron, and I'm not even anti-gun ownership.
Okay, retard. And spoons make Rosie O'Donnell fat. Why don't you ask the Brits, who have some of the most restrictive gun laws in the Western world, how their crime rates are doing these days? In the words of Heinlein, "An armed society is a polite society." And for the record, my IQ is well above average, thanks for asking anyway. I'm sure you'll be willing to compare SAT scores and college GPA's any minute now....
To the first commenter - it seems that the Dems that pulled the trigger (pun intended) on the ban are all up in arms about the guns being visible. Their fear is really about being hurt by those that disagree with them, they ought to be worried about many other things as well that cause bodily harm. Their focus is always on the object, and not on the people or the person, and that is what the phrase "guns don't kill..." is all about. Too often, as we see with the latest TSA fiasco, our emphasis is on things and not on the person using the things. If that drives you crazy (given your "spell out" of NRA), so be it.
Dear National Retard Association Member. Judging by your comments, you must be a member in good standing; A real role model for the rest of the membership. I applaud your sincerity, but am saddened by your ignorance. I do not mean that as an insult, but rather as a commentary on your understanding of the issue. If we apply the exact same principle you seem to embrace, then to save lives we need to ban either alcohol or the personal ownership of private vehicles. You see, more people are killed [ and many more lives adversely effected] by drunk drivers than by those that legally own a firearm. To properly address the issue of violence and crime, of all kinds, maybe we need to impose tougher laws and sentencing in our courts. You see, the average rate of recitative crime is in the 70 percentile. That means that, of 100 individual criminals, 70 of them will repeat their crimes. IMHO, that is pretty high. If you address that, all crime will dramatically drop! So why don't we all put our focus on the place that we can effect the most positive, life saving changes- the criminal! Leave us law abiding citizens alone!
You guys have to be kidding me. Do I need to explain that booze and cars aren't designed expressly as weapons? By *your* slippery-slope "logic," Don, since people die of heart disease, food should also be banned. See what happens when you make crappy analogies? You're also forgetting that I'm not anti-gun ownership, although why not being able to pack heat in the friggin' legislative building is a big deal is beyond me. I know, I know, the 'noids out there will claim that this is a step toward taking away everyone's guns altogether, but non-conspiracy-theorists understand differently. As for the U.K.'s homicide rate, the latest data show that it's three times lower than that in the United States. You're not exactly advocating for your own position by bringing that country up. Don, how exactly do you suggest that recidivism be addressed? You make it sound so easy, like changing a tire. Randy, I actually don't care about your IQ or your SAT scores, but the fact that you mentioned them at all here spells insecurity. Seriously, I've owned guns and am fine with them being banned in the places stated.
Once again, retard, thanks for not addressing the point. And BTW--murder is just ONE violent crime. The UK's violent crime rate is HIGHER than ours, even including such "progressive" meccas such as Detroit, Los Angeles (where I used to live), Chicago, and Washington DC...

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/lawandorder/5712573/UK-is-violent-crime-capital-of-Europe.html

And rest assured, I'm quite secure in my intelligence and educational level, as anyone who personally knows me can attest. You don't care because it's so easy to dismiss those who do not agree with you as "morons", "racists", "homophobes", or any other number of monikers the left just LOVES to use. Tell ya what, read this:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

So what part of "shall not be infringed" confuses you? Do you actually have guns now? Do you have a CCW permit? What is your policy regarding issuance of CCW permits here and in other states? Knives, per se, aren't expressly designed as weapons (at least not all of them). Should we ban the pointy ones or the "scary-looking" ones, kind of like Clinton's 1994 AWB? Again, a car, like a gun, is a tool, and if misused, capable of deadly consequences. Used properly, guns actually PREVENT crime. Perhaps a little reading of John Lott would serve you well.
Oh, and retard, here's another "moron" for you:

"Both oligarch and tyrant mistrust the people, and therefore deprive them of their arms." -Aristotle

And another one:

"Among the many misdeeds of British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest." -Ghandi

And finally:

"Taking my gun away because I might shoot someone is like cutting my tongue out because I might yell `Fire!' in a crowded theater." -Peter Venetoklis

Morons out.
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." And what about the word "Militia" do you find confusing? Care to elaborate on their presence and role in New Hampshire (or anywhere in the U.S.) today? I don't know why you have a hair across your ass about this anyway. I have repeatedly said that I'm not opposed to private gun ownership, and you keep rambling on about the Second Amendment and firing irrelevant quotes my way. That's a silly game anyone can play, ad nauseam. When I type words, it is in the hope that people--even hapless wingnuts--will read them. If you would do me the courtesy of reading what I right, you would not be so contentious. It's perfectly okay to acknowledge how stupid the NRA's slogan is while still being a champion of gun-ownership rights. No, I don't own a gun right now but I have in the past and I will in the future. I see no need for a concealed weapons permit in my case. More importantly I have no interest in you not being allowed to carry. But to freak out over not being able to bring a gun into certain government buildings or historical sites? Christ. It's not me who is missing the point.
Who is the hack that is hiding behind the sock puppet? I can't wait until I am old and washed up so I can troll and post messages on websites that I don't agree with.
I read your words, retard. And the thought behind them is somewhat, shall we say, lacking? And the MILITIA is the PEOPLE. Not some government entitiy. The FF felt (rightly so, having learned from history) that a well-armed populace was the greatest insurance against a tyrannical government. Seems to me the pols who fear guns are the ones who wield the yoke of tyrrany in the name of "public safety", "for the children", or any other pablum you wish to spout. Perhaps you should read your history and understand how the 2A came about and why it is revered as much as it is. Funny how there was no problem with guns in public places when conservatives ran the show.
