They judge you by the company you keep...
Florida Congressman Alan Grayson has made a quick trip from obscurity to practically dominating the news cycle. Of course, his claim to fame is not due what most people would characterize as positive. In fact, as we all know, the reason for his present notoriety is thanks to his being downright distatsteful. The Politico has the roundup of his recent actions:
Late last month, Grayson said Republicans’ health care plans were for Americans to “die quickly.”
Grayson, who is Jewish, later earned reproach from the Anti-Defamation League for referring to the health care system as a “holocaust in America.”
More recently, Republicans complained that a Website he created and promoted on the House floor – www.namesofthedead.com – had links to both his official House Web site and his campaign site. He later removed the link to his campaign site.
Of course, now, he has called a woman working under Fed Chair Bernake a "whore" while on a talk radio program. And naturally, unlike the infamous REPUBLICAN Congressman Joe Wilson who was universally panned for accusing Obama of lying (which, improper etiquette notwithstanding, was in fact a TRUE characterization), Grayson is instead, the toast of the town--at least in fringe Democratic circles-- backed up by some very prominent players. Michelle Malkin took note of one:
President Obama was in Florida last night and praised Democrat Rep. Alan Grayson as an “outstanding member of Congress.”
More proof Obama's sympathies continue to lie with the far left fringe of the Democratic Party.
Closer to home, as if we needed any more indications of where District 1's "cider-sipping with antiwar protesters" Congresswoman, Carol Shea Porter comes down, unsurprisingly, she too currently stands firm with this flake Grayson, having praised him in the not-too-distant past. And why not? After using derogatory terms to characterize her constituents that happen to be in agreement with the Tea Party movement, who would think she would be uptight about a fellow Democrat calling an accomplished woman in government a "whore?"

Before she even ran for Congress Shea-Porter was removed by police officers from a George W. Bush town hall and frequently disrupted then-incumbent Jeb Bradley’s town halls. She has called this year’s conservative town hall protesters “tea-baggers” and refused to apologize when informed about the deliberate sexual connotation of that term. And she harshly criticized Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina when he called President Barack Obama a “liar” during a speech to a Joint Session of Congress a few weeks ago.
But Carol Shea-Porter is remaining silent about the increasingly bizarre behavior of her colleague Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson of Florida.
In fact, her most recent comments of record on Mr. Grayson are overwhelmingly positive.
“I love both of these men and I will tell you that they are both driven by a moral compass that is just wonderful to behold,” said Shea-Porter while appearing with Rep. Grayson on a panel at the Netroots Nation summit in August. “And we share almost all the same kinds of goals and values and Alan and I do as well.”
Shea-Porter’s office did not respond to NowHampshire.com’s request for comment on whether she still stands by her characterization of Grayson.
Don't hold your breath. The only regret Ms. Shea Porter has, no doubt, is that SHE didn't say the things Grayson has...
I cannot believe that this woman is MY representative in Congress.
