« Spoken like a true Democrat | Main | New "conservative" in the NH Congressional race? »

MTNP Radio. The heat of summer might be over, but around here, the sizzle continues apace...

day at the beach

Starting Saturday morning at 9 am!

As usual, this week's broadcast version of GraniteGrok and Now!Hampshire.com brings an array of items and guests for your consideration-- ALL STARTING AT 9AM! As always, thanks to the technical wizardry and analytical skills of Skip, if you are beyond the broadcast area of Newstalk 1490 WEMJ, simply click here for instructions on how to connect and listen on the Internet via livestream. (Podcasts here)
  • Grant Bosse, Lead Investigative Reporter for the Josiah Bartlett Center reporting regularly at the NH Watchdog blog, checks in on a variety of topics, which will include:

    • ARRA Signs. Judd Gregg joins the rest of the regular people in wondering what the heck money needs to be spent on these for?

    • The ongoing kabooki dance between Gov. Lynch and the state's unionized employees. We'd re-enact PATCO, if it was up to us...

    • In a recent release from the Associated Builders and Contractors  we learned that the Federal Department of Labor has ordered that the new $35 million Job Corp Center Project in Manchester NH benefit only union contractors, workers and their families by requiring the use of a Project Labor Agreement (PLA). All contractors on the project will be required to either use union workers or apply union apprenticeship and work rules to their employees. Non-union contractors, even if you already provide benefits, will also be required to make contributions to union health, pension funds and other union programs that non-union workers will never be eligible for or benefit from.  Non-union contractors will have to factor double benefit costs into their bids to maintain their existing benefits for their employees and to pay into the union funds. This deters competition and increases the cost of construction by 10 - 20%. This week, the Union Leader reports Judd Gregg has taken note, as well. What a waste of money! More here.

    • Joe Wilson. HE told the truth...

    • The NH Senate Republican primary kicks it up a notch with Sean Mahoney's announcement that he's thinking of joining Ovide LaMontagne and Kelly Ayotte in the race to replace Judd Gregg. We'll discuss.

  • Doug & Skip hot topics TBD...

  • Bill Wilson was elected President of Americans for Limited Government two years ago, which was the latest step in over 30 years of work within the conservative movement. Wilson began as an organizer for Ronald Reagan's 1976 Presidential campaign in Maryland and southeast Pennsylvania and later spent a decade at the National Right-to-Work Committee before spending the last 15 years with the Americans for Limited Government organization. He's also been active on the political end, managing a number of Congressional, state, and local campaigns. We are pleased to feature materials provided by the ALG here on the 'Grok as informative guest posts and editorials. Recently, they covered two of the biggest stories NOT covered by the traditional main stream media.

    • This week, Mr Wilson sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer called upon the duo to remove Congressman Charlie Rangel as the Chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee.

“Madame Speaker and Leader Hoyer, the time has come for you to remove Charles Rangel from the chairmanship of the Ways and Means Committee. Any further delay will make you little more than willing accomplices to his malfeasance,”

Wilson wrote in his letter, explaining,

“Mr. Rangel’s nefarious financial wheeling and dealing has brought disgrace upon himself, his office, our nation, and your House. Time and again, he has been caught red handed violating tax laws and House rules, only to plead a degree of unmitigated ignorance absolutely intolerable for a man in his position.”

    •  Thursday, the House voted 345-75 to approve the "Defund ACORN Act." According to the legislation, no organization may receive funding that has "been indicted for a violation under any Federal or State law governing the financing of a campaign for election for public office or any law governing the administration of an election for public office, including a law relating to voter registration… had its State corporate charter terminated due to its failure to comply with Federal or State lobbying disclosure requirements… [or] has filed a fraudulent form with any Federal or State regulatory agency."........ Bill Wilson Friday defended the constitutionality of the House-approved "Defund ACORN Act" against charges by Congressman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) that the bill is designed to "inflict punishment" on ACORN "without trial."

Says Wilson: "Congress has a right and a responsibility to set the terms and conditions under which organizations are eligible to receive funding.  And it has a duty to make sure that partisan political or corrupt organizations like ACORN are no longer on the taxpayer dole."

  • And of course,=======>> Your calls are always encouraged at 603-527-1490.

WHEW! It all starts at 9AM EST Saturday. Tune in if you're in Central NH at NewsTalk 1490AM WEMJ or live on the 'Net here...
