Hour One:
Jack Kimball comes on the show to announce that he will be running to become the next Governor of NH. He ribs Skip about his need for constant Mountain Dew, talk about his email of last night, his biography, why he is running, how his business experience would shape his Administration, his sense of personal responsibility and why bringing back traditional values is important. Skip contrasts the Lefty notions of how success is attained in life (e.g., luck, individual success is dependent upon the State) and Jack’s answer. New taxes and fees leading us to a broadbased tax – the goal of Democrats. Part 1
Quick note about the weather has postponed some Gilford Old Home Day activities. Jack talks about making NH a more inviting place for new and expanding business. Emailer: how will Jack make it easier for NH’s deployed troops to vote and have them count? Jack lists some possibilities and mentions the Pease Greeters. Skip: what ARE the issues you have in "fighting to protect the NH Advantage" – supporting traditional NH values, reversing tax increases, smaller government, tax cuts produce greater revenues, review the business profit tax, business enterprise tax, workman compensation structure, and the new Liberal unemployment benefit plans that will be small business killers. Self-reliance and Personal responsiblity will be a big part. Caller: plan for the business Healthcare nightmare? Part 2
Matt Murphy gives us a live update from Manchester where Congressman Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH, CD1) has a report. Doug – is this like waiting for the Groundhog to come out? Matt- "six more weeks of being ignored by your Congresswoman seems to be your forecast". Federal building with a capacity in the room is a mere 100 people. SEIU union members are stacking the room for the Pro-Obamacare folks; People from the 9-12 Project are there for the Liberty loving folks. Potempkin Village time! A plug for the NH Advantage Coalition Pork Roast at the Rochester Fair – Jack is one of the speakers. Part 3
Back to the caller’s question of "What to do about small business healthcare" and joined with "The proper role of State Government and what are the top priorities for State Government?" Discussion of costs at the individual level and how State government made it harder (Thanks, Jeanne Shaheen!) – Jack wants business / people to be able to buy insurance from where / whom they want, only the coverages they want, and Government’s role is just to enforce the contracts. Jack – question ALL your politicians about their values and get informed; make them EARN your votes! More info will be at JackForGov.com Part 4
Hour Two:
Leslie Carbone comes on to talk about her just released book "Slaying Leviathan – the Moral Case for Tax Reform". Skip asks "What is the proper role of government and how are we to fund it?" Answer – look at the Constitution! Roll back the Leviathan, lower taxes, and let people keep more of their money. Leslie talks about the work that went into writing the book. How does the TEA Party movement fit into this? She mentions talking to a man at a VA Jim Moran that said not only do we have a right to healthcare but that "we have a right to be taken care of". "General Welfare" was the supposing (Doug – didn’t Washington hang General Welfare?").
"Are Liberals trying get us from Freedom to Freedom of necessity? In order to have Freedom, does one need to be self-responsible?" Leslie: "Freedom requires Virtue" – what does that mean, what did it mean, and what are the ramifications for today? Why do we have this problem of knowing what the Founders meant (hint: look at the government school system)? Talk about the 9th / 10th Amendments and the States should have the Powers not specifically enumerated to that of the Federal Government by the Constitution. Madison – "I can’t undertake to lay my finger on the article of Constitution that allows Congress to spend on objects of benevolence the money of its constituents." Is this all that arcane, or demonstrates a failure of the educational system? Doug brings up the bribery by the Feds to the local levels of "free money" – grant money taken from the local citizens, stripped at each step, and then used to spend more at the local levels. Leslie – the answer is Simple virtue: What belongs to someone else does not belong to you and because someone has something that you want does not create an entitlement on your part to it or an obligation on their part to give it to you. &
nbsp; Part 1 Part 2Chan’s email about Mountain Dew. Our Congressman, Carol Shea-Porter, called us TEA Party sympathizers, "tea-baggers" (a very derisive term). Democrat Ray Buckley, without knowing a thing about Jack Kimball, called him part of the ‘Fringe". We play CSP’s clueless description of what the Constitution means to her, and of course, have the appropriate commentary. It is clear, even though the Founders specifically wrote the Constitution to prevent the Government from doing stuff – Progressives believe that Government should do everything (and have everyone pay for their misguided ideas). Part 3
Pat "Hynsie" Hynse will be returning in a couple of weeks! Can’t get into a CongressCritter Town Hall here in NH? Frank Guinta, running to put Carol Shea-Porter into the unemployment line, will be having his own Town Hall meeting (Monday, Aug 31 at 6pm at Exeter Town Hall). Charity is a personal issue – not government which has usurped the traditional role of charitable acts and gifts.
Doug and Skip discuss the sad story where a NH judge orders an "above grade level" home-schooled child to go to a government run school solely because of the child shows an affinity to her religious faith. This shows a serious Government interference with the free practice of religion and the Government stepping in between a parent and her child. Part 4
