Lynch Lied. Marriage Died.

by Doug

New TV ad from Cornerstone running in NH through Wednesday:

Commenting on the ad, CPR-Action Executive Director, Kevin Smith, stated,

“We’re running this ad to remind New Hampshire’s citizens that Governor Lynch broke his word by misleading voters to believe that he opposed gay marriage.  It is also our intent to inform the viewer that their legislators will once again be voting on gay marriage this week and that they should urge them to put “principal over politics.”

The ad ignores the out of state money supporting Cornerstone

Cornerstone is not a state political party

  • Terry Stewart

Why should out of state money matter? Isn’t turn around fair play? I should remind you that the opposition is vowing to make same sex marriage legal in all 6 New England states buy 2010. That’s sounds like out of state support to me.

Neither is Freedom to Marry. The ad is less than truthful.

    The ad is truthful.
The Gill machine does its own interstate thing. So why should the defence of marriage be restricted?
SSMers have been using a national strategy for years. Look at the exportation of SSM from Massachusetts — even before the residency requirement was repealed. Most of the civil unions in Vermont were nonresidents. The idea is to inflate the participation rates locally and to bring potential legal complaints back to the states with DOMAs and marriage amendments.
No, don’t go on complaining about interstate politicking on the marriage issue, Putney. You’d just shoot yourself in the foot.
