So, the Left catagorizes the Tea Parties as run by the GOP? Hmmm, Exhibit A
I laughed the entire time I watched this - I just couldn't tell if this GOP CongressCritter was clueless, stupid, tone deaf, or scared - or all of the above. As Michelle Malkin said:
At the Greenville SC Tea Party last night, via Palmetto Scoop, an estimated 3,000 people booed and heckled GOP Rep. Gresham Barrett, who supported both the trillion-dollar TARP and now supports the trillion-dollar porkulus package. The crowd blew air horns as he tried to speak. Do you think the politicians are getting the message yet? And do you think someone in the MSM might grow up, stop wallowing in sexual teabagging jokes, and report these newsworthy developments? The anger at reckless spenders in Washington is palpable, deep-seated, bipartisan, nationwide, and not going away:
Now, this isn't just "booing and heckling" at the beginning of a speech - IT LASTED THE ENTIRE TIME THE DOPE KEPT SPEAKING! Now, that's a crowd that knows what it doesn't like. That was also a politician that tried every trick, every OTHER issue to try to get the crowd on his side.
They weren't buying it.
News also comes that Michael Steele, Chairman of the Republican National Committee, was denied a speaking spot at the Chicago Tea Party by the organizers. Good for them! The last thing that this nascent movement needs is to be seen as being co-opted by EITHER Party for political gain. I don't mind if good leaders that have a demonstrable track record of sticking to the Constitution and limited government and not in favor of handing out money like candy and not rewarding bad behavior bailouts with get involved. Otherwise, bring out the tar and feathers!
And that IS the message of the Tea Parties - it doesn't matter if you are a Republican or Democrat - the people are tired of the same marlarkey and tired of the same old "blame the other guys". Look, I am a registered Republican and believe in the free market, individual freedom, limited government message. But I'm a Conservative first, and the Republicans at both the National and State levels have behaved badly - now they are seeing the price they are going to pay for not living and acting the philosophy of the platform.
