Add another area that the Dems want to nationalize

Your Electricity brought to you by the US Government

(and you thought dealing with your local electrical company was a pain in the ...)

OK, Obama wants to marginalize the rich from charitable contributions, which charities will be funded by  government largesse, wants to nationalize health care (it owns 50% of it already), comparing (in a dismissive fashion) drop in our nation's wealth (via the stock market) to a simple little "daily political tracking poll") and is in the process of nationalizing the financial and automotive industries.  Barney Frank wants to go further and set the compensation for not just the bailed out firms but for ALL companies as well.

Pretty much can be summed up by: he (and the Dems) aren't best buddies with capitalism.  Now, I present to you the NEXT industry that the Dems are looking to take into the bosum of nationalism:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D, NV) has just proposed that the federal government should take over the power grid in the country so that it might string power lines all across the land. At least that would be the outcome if his new proposal comes to fruition.

Reid wants created by federal fiat new “special power lines to carry renewable energy.” Further, he proposes that these “special power lines” be placed where the federal government says they should be placed. He says that to do this the Federal government would “be able override states” in the placement of these power lines.
The Federal government would be able override states and direct where the lines would go and who would pay for them.
It would be defacto control of the entire power grid by order of Congress.

But the plan raises many questions
: how is it the American way to have Congress override states and force companies to build things they did not wish to build? How is it Congress’ place to say who should be forced to pay for these projects? Since when did Congress become civil engineers so that they are able to undertake such a project?

It’s the hubris of Congress on display once again.

Yup, Government can and should be in charge of EVERYTHING?  Yes folks, keep thinking of your busy DMV offices....

I have one thought on that - if you think political cronyism was bad before November 4th, just WAIT until the political hacks (on both sides of the aisle) get their claws into all this new "government property" that was formerly in private control.  Meritocracy will be nothing but a distant memory - it will all be about "who do ya know?"...

Like I've said before, the Dems complained about Bush being imperial?  Ha!
