« HillaryCare vs ObamaCare - a difference in approaches | Main | Meet The New Press - Podcast for 01/31/09 »

One week in - Obama's stealth attempt to cut Defense budget!

Great - our folks are on the battlefield and this action by Obama is not going to keep them safe...he can spend $4.2 Billion on Acorn for "community stabilization" in his stimulus bill and he wants to yank funding from those fighting in Iraq and in the 'Stan?

It certainly didn't take long at all!  He probably figured that with the Stimulus Pelosi-Reid-Obama Generational Theft bill AND all the tax problems his Cabinet Secretaries are having (more later, but it looks like Tom Daschle had has a $140K tax bill to explain PLUS MORE unreported LOBBYING income to complicate Obama's life), everyone was going to be looking the other way.

After all, it is the political way to announce bad news on a Friday afternoon:

Defense Official: Obama Calling for Defense Budget Cuts

The Obama administration has asked the military's Joint Chiefs of Staff to cut the Pentagon's budget request for the fiscal year 2010 by more than 10 percent -- about $55 billion -- a senior U.S. defense official tells FOX News.

Last year's defense budget was $512 billion. Service chiefs and planners will be spending the weekend "burning the midnight oil" looking at ways to cut the budget -- looking especially at weapons programs, the defense official said.

Some overall budget figures are expected to be announced Monday.

Obama met Friday at the White House with a small group of military advisers, including Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Gen. James Cartwright, vice chairman, and Gen. Jim Jones, National Security Council chairman.

You know, everything seems to be in stealth, hurry-up mode with him (healthcare, military, budget, pork, politics).

So, is HHS going to get cut 10%?  Commerce?  Agriculture? Anything?

Ok, Treasury isn't....I don't even want to try to figure out how much they've spent even today (makes my head hurt).

The HUGE problem is that this is the time, as foretold by his Vice President Joe Biden, that Obama is going to be tested and tested hard and often. With this revelation, you can be sure that the tests are going to come more often and higher in intensity.  Why?  Obama has just signaled with his tap dancing with his interview on Al-Arabia that the despots in the Middle East are safe....Iran just all but called him a coward....Israel is shaky as to how Obama views them...

And he blinked as Putin threatened him over the anti-missle missles that Bush wanted to put into Poland.

And now he is going to start disarming. Folks, be very afraid, as he is now going to try to replicate the Clinton "peace dividend" - and there is no peace.

From Redstate: here and here

Here are just a few of the programs and projects that have been included in the House Democrats’ proposal:

$650 million for digital TV coupons.
$600 million for new cars for the federal government.
$6 billion for colleges/universities – many which have billion dollar endowments.
$50 million in funding for the National Endowment of the Arts.
$44 million for repairs to U.S. Department of Agriculture headquarters.
$200 million for the National Mall, including $21 million for sod.

The plan establishes at least 32 new government programs at a cost of over $136 billion. That means more than a third of this plan’s spending provisions are dedicated to creating new government programs.

Let's permanently spend on those programs that keep giving Dems voters...
