Note to Obama: what a crock!
Many economists and financial future-seekers are saying that for right now, we are in the business ditch as companies are downsizing their workforces and their profit projections in the near term. Those same soothsayers also are being cautious in saying that the uptick will not be at least until the end of the year year, perhaps not until 2010.
That in mind, a quickie thought when I read this:
Speaking to the nation - in a YouTube version of Roosevelt's fireside chats on radio - Obama told Americans that the nation faced disaster on an almost unprecedented scale. He said the economy could end up $1 trillion short of its capacity, translating into a disastrous $12,000 loss for an average family. "We could lose a generation of potential, as more young Americans are forced to forgo college dreams or the chance to train for the jobs of the future," Obama said in the five-minute address. "In short, if we do not act boldly and swiftly, a bad situation could become dramatically worse."
The observation? WHAT A CROCK! One or Two years is not a Generation! Talk about making a crisis a mandate? I understand rhetorical utterances, but PLEASE! And that number of $12K/family for a $trillion? Sorry, the economics don't work that way and you know that, Obama, you Harvard trained lawyer you!
Look at the top of the post and reread it again - the out tick is for end of 2009, maybe end of 2010. That requires two things:
- Obama and his administration doesn't do anything stupid in good faith attempts to set in place good policies (and I have my doubts after hearing what's in the Stimulus bill - it seems to be everything a Liberal would ever want and wrapping it up in economic theory that is 70 years old) like FDR did.
- Obama and his administration (keeping in mind that phrase "we have to take advantage of this crisis") doesn't deliberately do the right thing is prolonging this merely for political purposes (after all, if the crises lasts, more "Changes" can be made)
It seems the tactic of the Left - make a crisis larger and bigger than what it really - is still de rigeur for this community organizer.
