Gregg to work for Obama?

by Skip

From NRO (H/T: assist from @Robeno on Twitter):

Roll Call reports that President Obama is considering Sen. Judd Gregg (R., N.H.) for Commerce Secretary. The story ends with this uncharacteristic error:

The governor of New Hampshire is a Republican who would have the ability to name Gregg’s replacement. Gregg is up for re-election in 2010 and Democrats were likely to target him anyway, but his departure would undoubtedly turn the seat into a better pickup opportunity for the majority.

Unless Gov. John Lynch has switched parties, he’s still a Democrat. This could be President Obama’s attempt to purchase a filibuster-proof Senate majority.

That would make the filibuster go away, wouldn’t it.  Betcha Dems ALL over are salivating over that!

Now if I were in Obama’s shoes I’d appoint Gregg, let Lynch name a Dem to take his Senate seat and then fire him and replace him with someone competent. MK
