« "Bring your own" - so we did! | Main | And the Dems say that they are for free speech? Naw! »

Their Chutzpah is less than stunning....

Or they think our stupidity is far more...

Sorry, unlike Joe Biden, I'm admitting that I'm partially plagiarizing Doug's post words "less than stunning". Seems to be apt when discussing the Democrats version of an energy policy (emphasis on the word "less").  Again, plagiarizing from Seinfeld's Soup Nazi: "No oil for you!".

The Democrats just keep proving those old canards - all hat, no cattle.  Lots of pontificating about conservation to save the earth.  Lots of preaching that we should lessen our carbon footprint (I'll tell you where to put your carbon footprint...).  And offset what you do "use" - just like them!  After all the hype and hoopla over their Convention about how they would ALL pitch in, you know how much money followed their mouths?  This is just too funny (and sad n' scary at the same time) and shows the hypocrisy of the Dems and extreme environmentalism (remember the mantra - "Fine for thee but not for me" - as you read this:

Results of a program using Aspen’s Canary Initiative to sell carbon offset credits to Democratic National Convention attendees are a little underwhelming.

The program, set up by the DNC Host Committee through the Denver Convention and Visitors Bureau and rolled out about a week before the convention started, raised a total of $18.34 worth of Canary Tags, offsetting 0.9 tons of carbon emissions.

$18.34.  Now remember - 10's of thousands of delegates, workers, and journalists went. Chump change - not even a night out for a husband and wife at a nice restaurant.

The Democrats and environmental extremes have no problem with sticking all of us with these hair brained schemes through legislative efforts (a forced "we're all in this together" for these carbon based restrictions) but when given the voluntary chance, will have NOTHING to do with the same when given a CHOICE.  That's right, FORCE over CHOICE - that's real individual liberty in action for you!

The offsets were aimed at DNC-goers other than the official delegates, who had a separate carbon offset program through Vermont-based Native Energy. That program, set up in January through the Democratic National Convention Committee, was utilized by 65 percent of the DNC’s 4,440 delegates.

This is the best part:

Peterson was hoping funds raised through the host committee for the DNC could be used for a signature project. But that will not be possible, as less than $20 was raised.

"Here’s three (compact fluorescent) light bulbs for the office,” Peterson said.

What's not mentioned is just how much money was spent marketing and implementing this disaster.

Betcha it was a tad more than what came into the till....remember, they want us ALL to do what they want us to; it's just that they believe that doing it themselves is beneath them.

It's great to see someone else writing about the energy hypocrisy of the Democrats. I work in Washington and have worked energy issues for years. Last night's energy bill was a prime example of that hypocrisy. The Democrats'energy bill was supposed to show America that the Democrats were serious about producing some of America's oil and natural gas. All it showed is the level they'll sink to muddy the waters. They want America to believe they did something significant last night in overturning the moratoria on offshore development. They did no such thing. One indicator: did you hear any environmental groups screaming about the betrayal. Nope, because they were in the grand deal to pass the no-energy energy bill.
