« Flag Flap Update: This guy just won't stop stepping in it! | Main | A look at Joe Kenney, the Republicans' gubernatorial standardbearer. »

Meet the New Press Radio. Like the Free-Staters, seeking "liberty in our lifetime!"

Lady liberty

Starting Saturday morning at 9 am!

.
Pat Hynes.mic.Skip Murphy.mic.Doug Lambert
.Pat Hynes                                  Skip Murphy                                  Doug Lambert

As usual, this week's broadcast version of GraniteGrok and AnkleBitingPundits brings an array of items and guests for your consideration-- ALL STARTING AT 9AM! As always, thanks to the technical wizardry and analytical skills of Skip, if you are beyond the broadcast area of Newstalk 1490 WEMJ, simply click here for instructions on how to connect and listen on the Internet via livestream. (Podcasts here)

    • Guest Ian Bernard of Free Talk Live. With the Free Staters' annual Porcupine Festival taking place here in Gilford, NH through this weekend, we figured we'd once again discuss the event and review what exactly the group is all about. We agree with the Free State Project slogan, "Liberty in our Lifetime" and will discuss what exactly "liberty" means. What would libertarianism be without guns? Ian will describe the recent event featuring a group cleaning a New Hampshire highway while carrying firearms. With signup for elective offices here in NH closed, we'll discuss the choices and how we can choose liberty-loving candidates.

    • Score one for the people! Doug and former Laconia mayor have won their Right-to-Know law case before the NH Supreme Court, resulting in the removal of the Belknap County Sheriff. Additionally, the Court has ordered the release of previously withheld public documents. Tom joins us for an overview of this ruling that goes a long way in strengthening NH's Right to Know! We'll briefly discuss his candidacy for the Republican nomination for County Commissioner. As a friend of Tom's said, "A pretty good day to have it known that you've filed for county commish! 'He doesn't just point out that they're doing it wrong; he even offers to do it right!'"

    • The Sierra Club has been hammering Senator John E. Sununu for his stances on environmental issues. This week, they even released a video parody that takes a shot at our thoughtful junior Senator. We disagree with their contention that it is a bad thing that he continues his "support of drilling for more oil as the solution to our energy crisis, regardless of its effects on global warming and repeated expert analysis." The Sierra Club's NH Field Representative, Kurt Ehrenberg, will try to show us why we're wrong. We agree with the points made by the Union Leader in this May 18th article when they write, "in the real world, Sen. Sununu voted to increase the domestic supply of oil, halt shipments to the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (Shaheen supports this) and increase funding for alternative fuel research."

    • This year marks the 20th anniversary of America’s longest and oldest continuous weekly POW/MIA vigil, held every Thursday night at New Hampshire’s official memorial at Meredith’s Hesky Park. Additionally, this summer marks the 15th anniversary of the Freedom Ride. Started in 1994 by a local motorcycle club, the ride is held in conjunction with the POW/MIA Vigil as a way of bringing both attention and participation to the issue.  It was modeled after “Rolling Thunder” which takes place every Memorial Day in Washington D.C. Bob Jones of the Northeast POW/MIA Network checks in to discuss the event happening this Thursday, June 19th.

Whew! It all starts at 9AM EST Saturday. Tune in if you're in Central NH at NewsTalk 1490AM WEMJ or live on the 'Net here... The best radio (in our humble opinions) anywhere...
