Then lead by example!

last man alive

Omega man?

I just couldn't help but shake my head in disbelief when I saw this over  at RightWingNews:

"The ultimate goal is one I will never see," Knight said. "I will never see the day that there are no humans on the planet.

Right.  Er, speak for yourself, dufus. I just cannot seem to wrap my arms around this kind of thinking.  Nature is important - but face it, WE are part of nature too!  Humankind just didn't decide to blast into existence on a whim.  We are, part and parcel, an integral cog in this ecosystem.  The biggest cog, in fact.  But this total, all emcompassing Gaia worshipping, that humans are the problem - not so much.

Oy:

"May we live long and die out" is the unofficial motto of a movement that seeks to improve the Earth's ecosystem by ensuring that the human species does not survive.
The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement, or VHEMT, consists of volunteers who have made active life decisions to remain childless for the benefit of the Earth, thereby preventing the extinction of millions of species of plants and animals.
[snip]
Though VHEMT volunteers have made active decisions to not bring children into the world, Knight said he is not concerned that the movement will literally die out.

Really?  I do remember a set of people that pretty much did the same thing - The Shakers!  While of a more religious bent, they decided "not to breed", feeling that there would always be more converts to keep the movement, well, moving.  That worked out well, didn't it?

"It's an idea, and it's not transferred genetically," he said. "We aren't born knowing we should go extinct; we have to learn it. We don't need to create new humans in order to indoctrinate them from birth. All of us come from breeding couples, and yet we've decided not to breed."

Actually, most of us have tremendous wills to live, not to go dead.

However, I really do have to wonder - if they are all so set on the feeling that the world would be a better place without humans, why aren't they leading by example?

I agree with John:

But, the scary thing is that these loons will find some way to murder millions or maybe even billions of people one day in an effort to depopulate the earth. In other words, it's not the dumb libs who don't want to have kids we have to worry about; it's the dumb lib who works in a biological weapons lab, making super bugs, who decides to try to commit mass murder on an unimaginable scale because he has been influenced by these hippies.

PS: There is no point to the existence of earth without humans. If human beings ceased to exist, it would make little difference at all whether the earth continued to exist or not.
