« Dems acting and voting badly again | Main | MUST READ! »

Do not back down, sir!

 McCain

Senator John McCain (GG file photo)

The Senator has made it well clear that fighting Islamic fundamentalism is one of his top priorities and concerns.  While he has made it clear that he will not cut and retreat like his Democrat rivals, he needs to be aware of what is now being called Shari'a creep.  It has been long known that the Muslim Brotherhood (behind much of the modern jihadi movement and for which CAIR is a front group) wages Jihad not only with warfare but with legalfare (see our post on the Flying Imams or what was done to Mark Steyn as an example), and culturefare (we've written a lot about it here at the 'Grok; search on "airport taxi" for example).

Well, here's yet another version of cultural warfare under the guise of political correctness and "religious accomodation" and wanting to affect our Presidential election:

A coalition of American Muslim groups is demanding that presumptive Republican nominee John McCain stop using the word "Islamic" to describe terrorists. The Washington Times reports Islamic Society of North America's secretary general wants McCain to use something he calls "more acceptable to the Muslim community."

So, we see the normal set up.  Feign outrage, intimate discrimination, and lightly frame it that "if you want our votes!"  Frankly, I have no qualms about stating that people like Muneer Fareed was not likely to be voting for McCain in the first place.

All that Fareed is trying to do is to "hide" the issue.  When fundamentalist Muslims fly jets into office buildings (the Twin Towers), when they kill innocent children in schools (Chechnya and Afghanistan), when they shoot women in the head on soccer fields (Afghanistan), when they should "Death to the Infidel Kurffirs", we need to know and to name those that would do us harm.

From Fareed's standpoint, it is much easier to continue the creep when it becomes invisible, when it is changed from a religious ideology to mere racism.  However, when part of the Jihad triad continues to be in the news, it makes it harder to keep the others fly below the radar.

"You want to call them terrorist criminals, fine. But adding the word 'Muslim' or 'Islamic' certainly doesn't help our cause as Americans... It paints an entire community of believers, 1.2 billion in total, in a very negative way."

Sorry, but one cannot fight (or fix) that which cannot be named.  Kinda sounds like that's the whole idea behind their "outrage".

But McCain strategist Steve Schmidt says there will be no changes. "The reality is, the hateful ideology which underpins bin Ladenism is properly described as radical Islamic extremism. Senator McCain refers to it that way because that is what it is."

Keep it up, Senator!  Keep it up that Straight Talk!

Update:  Saw this over at RedState:

The answer here is obvious: we should stop referring to groups like Al Qaeda, Hezbollah (literally, "the party of Allah") and Hamas as Islamic when they themselves stop doing so. But as long as they cite chapter and verse of the Qu'ran, it is simply the truth to say that they are who they claim to be.
