Doug talked about them here. I talked about their Warrant Article here.
From the GraniteState Fair Tax website:
We are a nonpartisan, educational nonprofit coalition…
From the Union Leader:
The coalition’s treasurer is Mark Fernald, who lost the 2002 governor’s race on a pro-income-tax platform. Henle insists that the organization does not support a statewide sales tax or income tax. Rather, he said, it advocates "considering everything," which could include a sales tax, an income tax, a carbon tax or any solution that lowers the property tax burden.
Give me a break: non-partisan??? Mark Fernald ran for NH Governor on a platform whose major plank was instituting an income tax. Mr. Fernald is one of the most Lefty Liberal of the state’s Democrats.
Please, please, will someone please tell Mr. Fernald about NJ and other states that have tried to lower taxes with additional taxes? Like NJ and Conn?
Oh yeah, never mind….he wants to spend more too…..adding yet another revenue stream just enables his behavior to spend other peoples money with wild abandon.
Anyways, our Doug will be appearing on Political Chowder again this Sunday.
From the ‘Net, try this (he’s on with Chuck Douglas debating this against an Alstead Selectman and a representative from the Granite State Fair Tax Coalition – they are in the second half of the show).
Doug and Chuck, if I may say so myself, demolish their arguments. The GSFTC tries so hard to be so high minded that their footings fall away from underneath them, especially when they refuse to acknowledge that spending DOES play a role in establishing high taxes.
No, you just cannot sweep that under the rug……and be credible.
