Mitt Romney Out

Mitt Romney
Mitt in Laconia, NH (GG file photo)
.
Mitt Romney is out. From Michelle Malkin, quoting Mitt Romney at CPAC:
And finally…the threat of radical violent jihad…they hate everything we believe about freedom, just as we hate everything they believe about radical jihad…
.
But there’s an important difference from 1976. Today we are a nation at war.
.
i disagree with sen mccain on a number of issues…(audience boos) but i agree with him on doing whatever it takes to be succesful in iraq
.
and i agree with him on eliminating al qaida
.
if i fight on in my campaign all the way to the convention, i want you to know that i forestall the launch of a national campaign.

Frankly in this time of a war, I cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror.

This isn’t an easy decision. I hate to lose
.
not just about me…i entered this race because i love america. i feel i have to now stand aside.
.
We cannot allow the next president of the United States to retreat in the face of evil extremism.
Mitt Romney is absolutely right on this. Hopefully those afflicted with McCain Derangement Syndrome will follow Mitt's lead on this--  the right thing to do. As I said in this prior post,
I cannot believe that people calling themselves conservative and claim to think could possibly believe that a President Hillary or Obama is what we need to set the stage for a comeback. Don't any of them realize the damage four years of either of those two will wreak? Once socialized medicine is introduced, and we retreat from Iraq, there is no turning back.
Mitt Romney showed true class with today's statement. I'm sure it's not easy to arrive at this point, but that's the way things have fallen. Thanks, Mitt, for doing the right thing, and doing it at this time.
.
How things work out from this point forward is now in John McCain's hands. His address to CPAC will probably be the most pivotal moment in the final stretch to November. Hopefully Senator McCain will make the effort to capitalize on it. The same goes for conservatives, who, with today's activities, have shown that they are, in fact, highly relevant and important. All eyes and events have converged on this week's most noteworthy gathering of conservatives at CPAC-- as it should be...
.
Watch the video here. It is the best speech I've heard from Mitt, and really sets the tone as Republicans move forward with the campaign.
