- Froma Harrop is a liberal-leaning columnist based in RI's Providence Journal. Her work is syndicated, and appears in one of our local papers, The Laconia Daily Sun. She was a guest here on MTNP back in December. This week she wrote a piece that caught my attention about the Democrat candidates and the illegal immigration issue:
"Hillary Clinton — and the other Democrats running for president — couldn't possibly have assumed that they would forever skate around the issue of illegal immigration. That notion came to an end in the most recent debate, when the New York senator badly slipped over a question about her state's controversial plan to issue driver's licenses to illegal aliens. Did she think no one would ask?"
Indeed. It's funny she wrote that because I was just wondering if the subject would ever be an issue on the Dem side of the race. Michelle Malkin on Ms. Harrop:[I]t’s great to finally discover a left-of-center syndicated columnist who wants to do something (other than amnesty) about illegal immigration.
- All politics is local. Laconia City Councilor-elect Greg Knytych stops by to chat about the election and what he expects as he gears up for his stint on that board. His ward's race featured himself and another candidate that can both be described as conservative. He is interesting in that he represents the new type of elected official that is an ordinary person, empowered with the information and communication offered by such new tools as the Internet.

You can tell he's being given some serious consideration as a front-line candidate based on the stepped-up tempo of the chorus of naysayers that have seemingly come out of the woodwork.
