« Issue Advocacy Awareness-- Campaign season is a great time to get the message out. This week, it was Chronic Disease. | Main | Wanna See Fred today in NH? Here's where he'll be... »

A glimpse of candidate Fred...

I'm sure that many of you are just like me-- intrigued by Fred Thompson, but not that familiar with him, when you stop and think about it. We've heard plenty about his long path to this week's declaration of his intentions to run for the Republican nomination, but not much about the man or his beliefs and convictions. Now that he's in, that'll all change. We plan on being with Fred this weekend as he makes his first stop here in the Granite State as "candidate" Thompson, and will report what we discover. In the meantime, you can watch his official video announcement by clicking here, or watch the video below filmed on the road in Des Moines Iowa.
.
.
I think that the "midwest kitchen table" approach presented by Mr. Thompson could play very well with many conservative Republican voters. Coupled with the tools of communication and technology at his disposal, I think that he will be a formidable force as we move towards the nomination. The big question is whether his folksey, down-to-earth style will play with city slickers and the east-coast country-clubbers that tend to rule the party in these parts. We'll have to wait and see. There is, after all, precedent for a "straight-talking" politician finding success here in the Granite State. Just ask John McCain about the 2000 campaign...

Reagan: lousy actor, better politician. Thompson: passable actor, poor politician.
C'mon Mike... You already know this? Let's see what happens-- of course just keep reading the 'Grok for the inside scoop-- good or bad.
