Couple of quick comments after listening to some of the audio:
Judy, you are a class act. You don’t let them get you down, you laugh in their collective faces and then you give kudos to anyone able to speak their mind and voice their opinion. I myself would have been fuming (I am over some of their posts, but I’m not stooping to their level), but you handled it with grace and dignity.
As for Gene Robinson, I can tell you first hand, the Episcopal Church is doomed as it stands today. I attend an Episcopal church, my wife teaches Sunday school, I’m on vestry and a host of other committees, I’m a delegate at convention and so on. My church has done a complete 180 degree turn just in the last few years. Even our rector has shown “An Inconvenient Truth” at least eight times in our parish hall. I have yet to watch it. After Robinson’s appointment, many long time members of our church simply left. Just plain gone. Then they wonder why pledges and open plate donations are down? Please. We still have some passionate people left, but both my wife and I feel strained to make a change as well. It will come sooner than later.
The hypocracy of the Obama endorsement will never see the light of day except in our microcosm of the blogsphere. Hearing it just makes some of my decisions all the easier.

I’m blushing bryfry….thank you for your kind words. I try to remember not to believe any of my own publicity, good or bad, and see how God keeps trying to keep me humble, hehe.
As far as Robinson, I just listened to the podcast myself….unbelievable and the Dads of Distinction did a great job exposing the issue, huh?
I’m so proud to be involved with these men of integrity.
Let’s face it, there’s only one God and should be only one church anyway…..all the denominations in essence were set up because we humans can’t seem to get along and want to control how people worship, act, etc. or change the Bible to say it’s okay to be a homosexual, etc.
I was a member of a church years ago that almost split over what color of carpet to put in the new sanctuary. Thank goodness, our pastor handled it with a sermon something about he didn’t care if some alcoholic/drug addict bum came off the street to seek help and threw up on the carpet…because we’re supposed to be here to be a place of healing and lead people to the Lord and God’s help and forgiveness….etc. wherever they’re at in life. The color of the carpet was quickly decided.
Robinson, of course, is a much more devisive figure, and I agree that if he really was a man of God, he’d step down…actually he never would have accepted his position…he’s suppposed to be serving the people and since many of them have left, he should have gotten the point long ago, eh? Just another reason I won’t be voting for Obama either.

Hi Folks!
I feel sorry for folks like you, bryfry. My former church left the American Baptist Convention (ABC) over the gay issue – it was getting too liberal for this conservative church. When a church leaves its spiritual roots for a social gospel, what is the difference between it and a country club?

Spirtuality should be routed in God not in any denomination and God has the final say not the ABC or any other denomination or non-denominational church.
Homosexuality is not a “social” gospel so I disagree. I suggest you read your Bible and see what God has to say about the issue rather than listening to men who are fallible and imperfect and want to change the “rules” to fit what’s going on in society rather than doing what God commands, etc.
Following men rather than God has inherent dangers in it.

Scripture aside, homosexuality has been around just as long, if not longer, than the Bible, probably as long as humanity itself. I’ve developed the personal philosophy of live and let live in regards to that; I’m not the one handing down judgments. I just don’t believe in preferential treatment because of it.
I do think Skip has a good point though. In my church, the homilies from the pulpit are getting more and more socio-political and the focus on what actually brings us together is waning. It’s a constant scramble for what feather they can place in their cap this week, which I find to be unchristian selfishness. I, for one, abhor that the most. Gene Robinson, to me, is a perfect example of it. Instead of bringing people together, the Episcopal convention decided to fracture us by appointing him Bishop. He should have said no, but selfishly took it and look what happened. The shepherds have herded the sheep off the cliff instead of into the barn.
