War of the [Democrat] Roses...

war of roses

.
In this past post, I noted that the Democrats have a big problem with the hard left wing members of their party. Thanks to moneymen like George Soros, leftie loons control a fair amount of the party apparatus. The clash comes when the beliefs and ideologies of these people get exposed and presented to ordinary American people. Some Democrats know this, and want distance between them and their left wing comrades. This continues to cause me to think that, instead of being shoe-ins for the White House in '08, the Democrats will have to work at it. Our friend, former NH state Sen Rob Boyce forwards his observations of the developing Democratic rift...

Life on the Left is not all Roses

by Sen. Rob Boyce
May 29,2007
.
My goodness, what is happening on the Left? First President Bush has stolen their feels so good issue – Darfur. George Clooney, last fall, called on the UN to impose sanctions on Sudan, on companies that do business there and individuals who are involved. Today President Bush has said he is not only again calling for those sanctions – he is imposing those sanctions thru the US government agencies.
.
Next, Cindy Sheehan- that darling of the Democrats during last year’s elections – has publicly quit the party. She believes that they are not liberal enough for her anymore. She used Memorial Day – the day set aside by a grateful nation to honor all US service men and women, including her son Casey, who gave their lives to protect our freedom and safety – to bash the very people who made her efforts to end the Iraq war a national Democrat Party cause. Not only is she no longer their darling – “the Peace Mom” – but the Democrat blogs have renamed her "attention whore" and are telling her "good riddance".
.
Then Nancy Pelosi has caved in to the President on funding of the Iraq war.  Not only did she not end the war as Sheehan and other far left supporters wanted – she has signed on to a plan to fund the war without a timeline for withdrawal of troops. She has also failed to eliminate the influence of lobbyists on the Hill. Where will the insanity end?
.
Not done yet! Not just his rhetoric, but now Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela is revolting, literally. He has tried to silence his detractors by seizing a TV station for airing his opposition’s view only to find that his opponents have taken to the streets with actual protests – a growing anti-revolutionary revolution. We haven’t seen this type of anti socialist revolt since the fall of the Soviet Union.
.
Even more – from Colorado comes news that Ward Churchill may actually be fired. Churchill is a “tenured” professor at the University of Colorado who cast blame upon the victims of 9/11 and called them “little Eichmanns.” The University has on-line a report (obviously written by someone being paid by the word – it is 125 pages long) into the allegations that he fabricated or plagiarized in his published works. Among the amazing “facts” he reported was that John Smith (Pocahontas’s love interest?) deliberately introduced  smallpox into the native population when no evidence supporting that “fact” exists and existing evidence shows that the native population was already decimated by that and other diseases brought by the French traders and trappers over the preceding 100 years.
.
Finally, in Rome, that liberal darling – the inimitable B.S. (Barbara Striesand) -has cancelled a concert because the local fans felt her Capitalist actions in pricing seats for between $200 and $1200 each was just out of line. But then I guess “what the traffic will bear” has limits. Even an ego as large as hers cannot justify those prices.

Mr. Boyce has submitted some great pieces lately, painting the liberal Democrats for the moonbats that they really are. It's unfortunate that he wasn't this public when he was a Senator. Even though his voting record deserved a gold star, his abscence from the public eye didn't do him any favors. An elected official needs to remember to treat every day as though they are campaigning.
