Is anybody out there considering the result of increasing the size of NH’s traditionally frugal state government by a whopping 16%? Where does it end? What happens in an economic downturn? I can’t believe I’m pining for the days of an 11% Shaheen budget. Once we giveth, it is impossible to taketh away. Unfortunately, by the time Joe and Jane Sixpack figure out what’s happened, it will be too late. They’ll be beggin’ for an income tax. Combine this with the reckless spending at the local town and school levels and we have the approach of a "perfect storm."
