More Jet-i-ness!
Well, due to yet another biz trip and posting at our other blog, GilfordGrok (on some local issues, doing research on more "serious" stuff there), my postings here have been light - sorry!
However, this did catch my eye a day or so ago, so I finally decided to to add to the collection of "different" things pertaining to jets I've seen around the 'Net. This one, I really hope comes to pass (literally) overhead!

The biggest improvement (other than it just looks plain cool!) is the shape of the forward canard and wings, along with the tail structure, is to mitigate the resulting sonic boom as the plane goes supersonic. In fact, unlike the Concorde (the only supersonic plane for commercial travel that never made a profit), this will be able to travel at supersonic speeds over land (think continental US) because the "boom" isn't "boomy".
Result? NY to LA in 2 hours at Mach 1.8
Right now, just 12 passengers (as conceived by Lockheed's famous Skunk Works and Supersonic Aerospace International). Not that I'd ever be able to afford a ticket, but it is a rather fine looking flying machine......sigh...
